“A person’s great learning, when not resulted in a new scholarly or creative writing, would not become known to anyone.”
The point is, it is no doubt a great jewel, but so long as it is kept in a dark room, it will remain there in darkness, its splendour unnoticed by any one, and as a result its greatness unknown to anyone. Likewise a person’s great learning, when not resulted in new scholarly or creative writing, would remain unknown to the outside world.
