Staying in the abode of gurus, performing to the gurus
All kinds of services and making himself boundlessly dedicated with
Fixed attention, attained knowledge by the blessing of
The gurus, including the ‘aNima’ etc., eight supernatural faculties.
Both these poems describe the character of the ascetic ‘UdankuDu’. So, the first poem is necessarily connected with the next poem. Both the poems are in the Telugu meter known as ‘Kanda’. The characteristics of the ‘Kanda’ meter have been explained in detail, here, here and here .
The interesting and important thing about these two poems, as I perceive, is each poem appears to be the reflection or image of the other poem in the way the words flow in both the poems. On close examination we may also get an understanding that Nannaya had based these two poems on two main words ఉదంకుడు (UdankuDU) and గురుదయ (gurudaya) – which formed the base for each poem – and placed them at the beginning of the fourth (last) foot of each poem.
 These are eight supernatural faculties which are attained under the able guidance of an ascetic guru as per the Hindu way of obtaining powers beyond the imagination of normal mind. Of the eight faculties, aNima is the first such supernatural faculty on attaining of which a person can become on his so wishing very small in form. The remaining seven faculties are said to be లఘిమ (laghima), ప్రాప్తి (praapti), ప్రాకామ్యం (praakaamyam), మహిమ (mahima), ఈశిత్వం (iiSitvaM), వశిత్వం (vaSitvaM), కామావసాయిత (kaamaavasaayita).
